From the Pastor's Desk
I read this poem in the newsletter of First Baptist of Wichita and wanted to share it with you. This poem was written by Hu Yang Miller in 2011 about her mother’s search to find the Truth. Affectionately called “Wei Mama,” Wei Shu Qing had come to Wichita to visit her daughter, Hu Yang, and her family last fall. Wei Mama has searched throughout her 79 years for the Truth and met Him through HuYang and the Chinese Fellowship of First Baptist Church of Wichita. She was baptized on February 5. As you read, think of your own search for the Truth, you own search for safety and security, and remember that you are also a sheep of the Great Shepherd.
Blanket of snow, boundless the night I am a lost sheep Where is my master? Where is my home? High the mountain, steep the cliff Can’t distinguish among the variety of beliefs Various religions lead me to a maze Perplexed mind, confused eyes Idol friends disappointed me Doctrines of this world scared me Empty spirit, timid soul Money can’t buy peace and joy Satisfaction from crazy shopping is short And ridiculous Listen with ears, think in heart Millions of questions come to mind Should there be God, give me the answer! Seek on the left, hope on the right God’s mercy comes upon me Taking my hand, holding my shoulder Seeing my heart, piercing my soul Down to earth unburdened steps There is a love that strengthens me No more confusion Snow melts, bright light ahead I am a joyful obedient sheep Jesus Christ is my master My home is in heaven!
